Sound bites are more than just a media ploy. This is a foundational concept on how we access and remember information. For instance, this was used very effectively in Illusions by Richard Bach. Key concepts were made to stand out both both by the writing and the layout. This indicated to reader to pay attention to a primary concept, upon which the text then elaborated.
